Te Pā Arch: Our Contemporary Practice
Te Pā Arch (The Pacific Aotearoa Architects) draws its name from Pā, the fortified
villages of historic Māori. Pā were more than structures — they were living, breathing
centres of community life, where people gathered to share knowledge, tell stories
and protect their resources.
Like a Pā, our practice is built around collaboration, shared knowledge, and respect
for place. We see architecture as a vessel for storytelling — a way to honour whakapapa,
cultural heritage, and the wisdom of Māori and Pasifika communities.

How our built environment is experienced, and how we interact with the spaces we
inhabit, is central to every design decision we make. This belief guides our
collaborative approach with Māori and Pasifika communities, ensuring that every

connect with it.
Our architecture acts as a tusitala — a storyteller — transforming collective
knowledge and cultural insight into spaces that honour whakapapa, heritage, and
shared guardianship. We see every project as a co-created environment, where
technical expertise and cultural wisdom are woven together to create meaningful,
enduring architecture.
